Summary of Project/Product/Division:
The WLN team is starting a new team to improve the way customers discover and acquire Windows Live services (http://ideas.live.com/). Our project will compete head-to-head with Google and offer a unique opportunity to develop Win32 client applications, .NET web services to support them, and eventually Vista-focused client applications. We’re a part of the Windows Live Member Experience team, which provides experiences across Windows Live for merchandising, installation, signup, sign in, and account management and owns the Windows Live Favorites service.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing localized and branded Win32 GUI
- Win32 debugging and optimization
- Client software instrumentation
- Work with internal partners to define installation platform interfaces and requirements
- Provide technical guidance to help partners with on-boarding
- Analyze instrumentation data to understand and resolve customer-impacting issues
- Cooperate with internal installation-focused teams and projects to improve the Microsoft software installation platform
Minimum Requirements:
- Passion for good customer experiences, and for technology
- Strong object-oriented design skills and a minimum of 3 years coding experience in C/C++ and COM on Win32 GUI apps
- B.S. in CS or equivalent
- Ability to work independently while tackling large ambiguous challenges
- Experience with software installation techniques and processes
- Fluent English
Desired Requirements:
- Experience with Web Services, international development, C#/managed code, AJAX, DHTML, and Agile Development are plusses
- ActiveX development experience preferred
