    Windows Vista Beta 2

    Hi,

I am looking some thoughts on peoples experience with Vista as I am having some problems (OK it is a beta but..).  Is anyone having similar experiences?  So I can rule out if its my box.

I have a Vista Premium capable PC and therefore running the whole areo configuration.  I did an upgrade from XPSP2 and was wondering if anyone else has gone this route.

90% of things look to work fine but there are a few issues.  SQL Server 2005 does not work.  If you are going to upgrade you need to apply SP1 for SQL2k5 first.  I cannot get it to work post upgrade despite information from MS KB to the contrary.  Cannot start SQL2k5 and SP1 will not install unless SQL2k5 started and it can log into SQL.

Shutdown problems - this one I am still trying to fugure out.  I cannot shutdown, logoff, restart without a blue screen.  Most likely a driver issue but haven't narrowed it yet.  Possible related problem in start up when i log in it sits at a blank (Light) blue screen for up to 10 minutes before loading desktop.  Though this problem is intermittent.

AntiVirus - apparently only Trend Micro do a beta version of their AV which is compatible with Vista.  Was using OneCare but it is not supported - strange...

If you expereince similar issues and have knowdedge of fixes, workarounds, let me know...  Don't really want to rebuild again.

    Re: Windows Vista Beta 2

The shutdown issue is very likely driver related - you could troubleshoot this by running the performance diagnostic tool (click the 'pearl' (used to be where start was) and type perf). then look at the reliability monitor tab You should also check if you are running the latest BIOS for your PC. I'm running CA eTrust 7.1.192 for AV - works fine.

Also you can use the bug reporting tool (http://windowsbeta.microsoft.com/vista/bugs.aspx?&build=0&sku=0) to log any of the issues you are seeing
